We provide a wide range of Medical and Minor Surgical Procedures in the practice. Our doctors each have special areas of training and interest from provision of long acting contraceptives to the management of skin and musculoskeletal conditions.

Typically these procedures need to be planned in advance following consultation with your doctor.

Procedures

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is useful for treatment of warts and other minor skin lesions. This service if recommended is provided by appointment, on specific days, after consultation with the doctor.

Ear Syringing

Ear syringing is performed by our doctor. We generally advise softening the wax with Waxol or olive oil for 1 week in advance of your appointment.

Wound Care

Care of wounds, removal of sutures and the dressing and management of ulcers is provided, by appointment, by our nursing staff.

Joint Injections

Some musculoskeletal conditions can benefit from injection of joints or adjacent areas. This procedure is planned, by appointment, if recommended following consultation with the doctor.

Minor Surgery

We provide a range of minor surgical procedures including:

Biopsy and excision of skin lesions and cysts.

Incision and drainage of abscesses

Suturing of lacerations

Removal of foreign bodies (including from the eyes)

Resection of Ingrown toenails

While some of these procedures may be required on an urgent basis others will be planned, by appointment, if recommended following consultation with the doctor.

Most of these procedures may be covered by the GMS (medical card scheme) or directly by your health insurance. In all other cases please check the cost with our administration staff in advance.  For more information view our Costs

Implanon

Implanon is a long term, reversible form of contraception (LARC).

If you think this may be suitable for you, please make an appointment to see a doctor who will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this method, as well as assessing your suitability and explaining the procedure for insertion and necessary follow up.

When you are booking an appointment to have the Implanon inserted please inform the reception staff so the appropriate time can be allocated for your appointment.

IUCD – Mirena / Kylena

This is a form of longterm, reversible contraception.

If you think the Mirena IUS (coil) may be suitable for you, please make an appointment to see a doctor who will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this method , as well as assessing your suitability and explaining the procedure for insertion and necessary follow up.
